Pervasive developmental disorder (PDD)/ Autism Spectrum disorder/ Autism

This condition is characterized by abnormal functioning in all the three areas of social interaction, communication and restricted, repetitive behaviour. There is inadequate appreciation of socio emotional cues, as shown by a lack of responses to other people’s emotions and / or a lack of modulation of behaviour according the social context. There is quantitative impairments in communication in the form of lack of social usage of language, impairment in make believe and social imitative play and also there is stereotyped patterns of behaviour, interests and activities.
